In athletic competition, the side that has red as part of its uniform scores 10 percent more than teams that don't.German psychologists showed clips of Taekwondo bouts between a fighter in red and one in blue to 42 experienced referees. They then showed the clips again, digitally flipping the colors of the combatants' uniforms. In each case, red wearing fighters were more likely to win.
This adds to a straight-up analysis of results that found competitors in red prevail more often. "There is now good experimental evidence that red stimuli are perceived as dominant and that they cause negative effects on performance in those viewing them," concluded the researchers.
This may be yet another explanation for the continued frustrations of the hapless orange-and-blue New York Mets.

That because red brings out the rage in you that makes your competitors scared and then you win.

Leave the "Mets" Alone !!! The Yankees are always lucky, and they Don't were red so that is not true! There are other teams that don't were red and they are lucky as well . So color has no bearing on the winning .

Tell that to the Pittsburgh Steelers that have won 6 Super Bowls. Then again, you can tell that to the Pirates that haven't won since 1979!

Hands Down...the dumbest study ever done!!! Greatest team in sports history...The YANKEES. Greatest basketball team in history...The CELTICS. Greatest football teams....COWBOYS and STEELERS. Hockey wld be the Canadiens. They hv the red. as well as the Red Wings. But for the most part, when it comes to championship teams, red comored teams win next to the least.

I wonder how much these people get paid to study this. I guess they have to justify their job somehow. Our government must be running Germany also.

I recall that a mumber of years ago, a study reached the same conclusion about the color black. Subsequently, there was a surge in the number of teams that used black in their color scheme.

This is crazy. Every car we have had that was red was taken out by some crazy driver who was speeding. Really, every single red car. We never buy red. The only good thing for red is hair and flowers!

Really I always thought Black was the luckiest color. Blacks have been getting checks from the government and free housing, free food, child care for over 50 years. Black has to be the luckiest color hands down.
