Required viewing from the week in movies.

Why is "Extract," another hilarious workplace comedy from Mike Judge ("Office Space"), coming out in the Labor Day Weekend dumping ground? It's like Hollywood wants him to fail. Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis and Ben Affleck in a dirtbag wig round out the ensemble cast.

Also in theaters this week
:
-- "Gamer," from the geniuses(?) behind the "Crank" franchise, looks like it may have been made by a mentally disturbed 13-year-old on a Mountain Dew Code Red binge.
-- "All About Steve" finds Sandra Bullock as an annoying woman (in a film she produced, ironically) fixated on Bradley "I'm contractually obligated to appear in every comedy" Cooper.
-- "Carriers," yet another "the virus is spreading!" horror flick, would likely have gone straight-to-DVD if not for the presence of "Star Trek"'s Chris Pine in the lead.
