We're torn -- there's no cursing (con), but we like that it's sort of a nerdy grammar joke (misplaced modifiers!). So we'll have to tackle this scientifically.
Go ahead and watch this clip of the BBC anchor channeling Ron Burgundy, then tell us if you think it's funny. You can check these out (NSFW) for contrast.

Edited to look and sound like a blooper. Someone thinks they are funnier than they really are.

I don't think it's your speakers that don't work right - I think it's his mouth.....

If it wasn't a news story about a girl who was kidnapped, raped and held captive for 18 years, then it might have been mildly amusing.

I'm failing to see any humor in this at all. I watched it three times more than I needed too.

What is SUPPOSED to be funny is he says
"Jonathan Charles kept hidden for 18 years and forced to bear children" He did not take a pause and the way he ran it together it made it sound as though HE was kept hidden for 18 years and forced to bear children...

Hardly funny. It was cut to sound as if he was talking about himself. Hats off to a quick edit. Making fun out of the REAL story is shameful

Totally agree. Sounds like all they did was edit. The true story of what happened to Jaycee Lee Dugard is disgusting and savage. How anyone could find any humor or try and make anything funny out of someones 2 decades of enslavement and rape is hardly funny.

Jeremy Clarkson makes comments like that all the time on TopGear, so I think it was an attempt to steal a bit of their thunder. It's just typical Brit humor. Monty Python also did it.

Just plain stupid. Not clever, not funny, not even creative and poorly edited

I worked for CBS for 12 years and I've heard hundreds of flubs. I thought this was very funny. Get a sense of humor.

This wasn't a blooper at all..it was a poorly written comment and then it was placed on youtube. I expected more.
