Is This the Best News Blooper Ever?

Here at Asylum, we know from news bloopers, so when we came across this clip of the BBC's Jonathan Charles, our expectations were high. Buzzfeed says it's the best news blooper ever, while HuffPo isn't so sure.

We're torn -- there's no cursing (con), but we like that it's sort of a nerdy grammar joke (misplaced modifiers!). So we'll have to tackle this scientifically.

No the story he was leading into is not a funny story... His delivery is!!! The joke --is --it makes him sound like he was forced to bear children. It was TRULY a Ron Burgundy/Will Farrell moment! LOL

It is funny because he didn't pause in his sentence. It is very sad for me because this happened near where my parents live. To think that I drove by that house umpteen million times on the way to visit them and never knew a thing... the area is rural and crap in yards is the norm. The place didnt really look out of the ordinary. The saddest thing is the neighbor reported to police about children living in the yard and the Contra Costa sheriffs didn't investigate the yard.

I have to agree, this was NOT funny in any way! If it was intentional, it certainly back fired, if it was truly accidental, then he proves one thing. He's really good at reading a telepromter; doesn't have to "think" about what he's saying. And why did he choose this subject matter, to try a failed attempt at being funny? Jaycee Duggard's kidnapping/rape, is by no means a story that one, especially a news reporter, should poke fun at. Shame on the BBC and this dippy reporter!

I heard this before and thought it was hysterical. The "blooper" is not that he said something that wasn't there: it's that he said it without the pause that commas indicate.

For example, can you make sense of this w/out punctuation?

Can you punctuate it?
