Getting a face full of shower water can lead to lung disease.Researchers from the University of Colorado found that 30 percent of shower heads contain extremely high levels of Mycobacterium avium, which is linked to pulmonary infections. Since tiny droplets of water from a shower often suspend themselves in the air, it makes it easy for the bacteria to be inhaled into the lungs.
While this is more of a problem for those with preexisting medical conditions, the researchers warn the bacteria will occasionally make healthy people sick, and attribute a recent uptick in lung disease to more showering.
Finally, an argument against bathing has arrived. Good news for 8-year olds, though they are still desperately waiting for a study to find that veggies cause cancer.
