If you watch "Mad Men," and statistics say you do unless you're one of about 20 people who live in the Ozarks and have no access to cable, you no doubt witnessed the birth of Betty and maybe Don's baby in Sunday night's episode.
While Betty is doped up and enjoying some hallucinatory birthing shenanigans, Don gets to spend his time waiting patiently in the waiting room with another expectant dad, just like Grandpa did back in the day.
In truth, back then no one wanted to go into the delivery room for fear of, you know, seeing the delivery. These days it's expected for the man to be right at his wife's side. Some guys even bring video cameras, because you can't have enough home video footage of a human coming out of your significant other that you can pop on the tube on a quiet Friday night.
Given the choice though, which would you prefer?

The whole time I watched that episode I thought to myself I would hate to be in that waiting room not knowing what was going on in the delivery room. I definitely want to see my baby born!

Egads, what DIDN't we have better back then? :)
But yes, I'd rather be in the waiting room.
