You know how every holiday season the stores all sell out of Nintendo Wiis? Well, that's because they're so awesome -- just ask the cops in Polk County, Fla. In the midst of a drug raid on a house that apparently took nine full hours and cost $4,000, cops apparently were distracted by Wii bowling. Reports say they started the game up within 20 minutes of entering the house and spent hours playing it.
The incident is being investigated after it was caught on the drug dealer's security camera, though it should be noted that some cops were looking for drugs at the same time. (Also, in fairness, Wii bowling is super-fun.)

There is a lot of ignorance toward police work, so I will forgive that. First, police not writing tickets in the rain makes sense. It's not because they don't want to get their little heads wet or even because its hard to write a paper ticket and have a violator sign it in poring down rain. The bottom line is it's a safety issue for both officers and violators. Inclimate weather has lower visibility and greatly reduced stopping distance. I would think this is commom sense to most folks. As for a comparison to firefighters; do you know when firefighters are not on a call they play video games, sleep, surf the web, etc... All on taxpayers dollars. We pay them to be ready when needed. I agree the officers used bad judgement and should be disciplined due to these circumstances. The bottom line is they were probably part of a after search security or prisoner/property transport team. They could not leave and had nothing to do until detectives completed the search. There is a whole lot of uninformed haters out there.

Nicholas, no the police and fire do NOT do the same thing. I did the job for 20 years, I know a little about it. No one lays in wait to kill a fireman (has happened her in Baltimore more times than I care to count). No one wants to kill a fireman for showing up at their house and no one wants to kill a fireman for doing their job. Firemen are not paid to put their lives on the line 24 hours a day/7days a week. Cops are on duty every minute of every day. Firemen are not. I could go on and on. As for 'down time' while on the job - firemen have tons more of it than cops. I don't agree with what these officers did, but I will be damn.ed if I will listen to the garbage spewed by Jeanne and the other mental midgets on this board. (PS - I have firemen in my family and they will tell you the jobs are not completely comparable.)

They might save your life one day. But they won't. However if someone kills your family member then there's a reasonable chance that the cops will find his/her killer. That's essentially what cops do. They catch criminals. They deter criminals. They do not prevent criminals.

So WHAT at least they got the criminals and im sure they've worked very hard prior to the raid to get the Case done.... Leave them alone the crap officers put up with on the street Why not the Wii should've been brought back to the station to put in their breakroom you know it was probaly bought with drug money.

I think people are missing the point here, sure cops have a stressful job, and sure they deserve down time (Thats why they dont work 24/7). But if you guys read the full thing, they started it 20minutes after they entered the house. Drug raids take alot longer then 20minutes, and they spent $4000 of tax payer money to do something that would of take less time if they all did their jobs at the time.
You guys can defend them all you want, but the fact is they goofed off while on duty, that resulted in more money being wasted, and less cops for other emergencies. And dont compare firemen to cops, firemen can obviously do things to pass time that cops cant, cause they dont patrol the streets, they wait for calls, if there are no calls, they are in the station waiting. cops however are on the streets, and have to look around. Two totally different jobs.

I am sure the homeowner's attorney will have a field day in court. Nothing solidifies our trust in law enforcement than watching them play a video game when they are supposed to search the house, as per the warrant. I am sure the judge that signed that warrant didn't include the use of the homeowner's personal property for personal entertainment while on the job. Nice going cops! I hope this doesn't dismiss the case.

Whats the difference in what town it is. In Fla they are all GOOD OLE' BOYS..A redneck state with redneck cops.. These guys couldnt catch a cold..Everyone there on the force is related to someone else. It's like a family reunion. Only problem is the family is not all that bright..They need to know that Y'all is singular and ALL Y'all is plural...

All the people out there without jobs, and these clowns make a mockery of having one. They are supposed "To Serve and Protect" others, not themselves. Whomever are defending this behavior are showing their own moral standards, and justifying it by all means.

The last newsbreak said something to the effect, "there was other scientific evidence and/or DNA recovered from the scene of what looks like several donut crumbs" Officer Barney Fife said he REcovered and UNcovered this evidence just behind the camera that captured the footage. "Golly," "Shazam," and "Surprise, Surprise."
