We're really not that interested in the controversy surrounding Mark Fast's London Fashion Week show, since his creative director stormed off the job when three plus-size models were hired to walk the runway in Fast's signature clingy knits. What we are interested in is said models in clingy knits. After scoping some shots of the women on the runway, we can say with confidence that this is a trend we're looking forward to seeing sweep America.
According to some ladies we asked, size 12 to 14 in the U.K. is actually 8 to 10 in America, which is pretty close to your typical girlfriend-size. And while we would never begrudge a man his preferences, Fast was kind enough to include a range of models from your typical ultra-thin fare to the curvaceous ladies to the left.
We guess what we're trying to say is, we're really interested in hot girls in tight dresses, not so interested in the sizes on their tags.
Check out some more pictures of hot plus-size models.

unfortunately if you go looking for a size 12 or 14 it'll be on the plus size side of the store. actually, a size 10 is even considered plus size depending on the store you go into.

It is about time they top designers include normal sizes in their runway shows. I think the girls look better as well. Now if a designer could just come up with a runway show that was realistic in price.

Marilyn Monroe was a size 12, but that size in today's American sizes is a size 8 Misses. It still proves the point that "fashion beauty" is arbitrary. Models have been getting skinnier and skinnier, and taller too, where being 6' tall on the runway is the norm. The average American man is only 5'9. So, according to "fashion beauty," a woman with 28" hips is considered beautiful even though a woman with hips so narrow could not give birth vaginally to a normal sized baby. Also, most men find the healthier-looking models of Victoria's Secret catalog (you know, good old 36-26-36) way more appealing than the waifs on the catwalk.
Oh, and plus sizes in America are 14+. I believe either fourteen (or twelve) is the minimum size at Lane Bryant. I wear an American 9/10, and I am perfectly able to shop in the normal clothes sections of my department store (Macy's), including designers such as DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger and BCBG to name a few. Most of the popular designers sell sizes up to 12 or 14. I've even seen a few 16's here or there. Some designers run small, though.

Thank goodness plus size women are being recognized for their beautiful curves and full figures, I am a big fan of gorgeous full figured women, they look healthy, and when you hold a woman of their stature you know you have a loving woman in your arms, and it feels so good to have their warm loving body holding you as well....Two thumbs up and a big smile for the hot looking plus sized models, you have my attention and I am just one male of many....and as for those ladies who like to dress up in the latest fashion, please do so, I love looking and admiring...

Why do they all look so sad? Is it because they're fat?

I think they all look so sad because they are hungry. Except for the girl in the front, who is not fat, the rest of them are bone thin. They are grumpy cause the one in front gets to eat and they don't.

If you get to make skinny jokes about REAL models, I get to make fat jokes. You people seem to have forgotten: attractive people have feelings too. These ARE plus sized people. Size 12-14 is the average, but we have AN OBESITY EPIDEMIC. THE NORM IS OVERWEIGHT. We need to stop re-enforcing this awful habit.
I see it: problem, thin, normal, overweight, problem.
You should strive to be thin and fit, but normal is ok. NOBODY likes stick women, but we don't like whales in dresses either >>

Marilyn Monroe was a size 10 and that's by 1950's standards. Today she would be a size 6...
Furthermore, please keep in mind that models are on average 5'11", such as myself, so a size 10 - 12 looks good as seen above. The average American woman is 5'4" and a size 12 - 14 which isn't healthy period. Let's not makes excuses for lack of exercise and poor diets. Top models are too thin, but 'plus size' models are fit & truly average. An average height American woman's size 6 - 8 is perfect.

Oh so a 6-8 is average size and is perfect. Are you for real? Most women are a size 12-14 ...or even a 10.... 6 to 8 is tiny--
Have you taken height into consideration? I'm 5' 9 " and 6-8 would be ridiculous on me. Maybe you don't have any curves yourself ??

It amazes me that a size 10 or 12 would be considered plus size.
It is about time we saw normal, healthy women on the runways.
No wonder we have so many kids struggling with anorexia and bulimia! It's time the fashion industry grew up. Featuring women whose bodies mirror a prepubescent girl only inflames the child sexual exploitation that already rocks the kingdom. Why are people so afraid of real sized, strong and healthy women? Can't figure this out. Are men so afraid of mature women that they cling to this twiggy/ babyjane image?

Big girls are like mopeds. Fun to ride but you dont want your friends to see you on one. Truth be told everybody has their own opinion of beauty. Some guys like those scrawny sucked up junkie looking model types. Me, I want a half gallon of Rocky Road on a warm, breathless night and Kirsty Alley as my dessert bowl.
