A spot in South Dakota is 107 miles away from a Mickey D's, the longest distance in the Lower 48.It's located between the tiny towns of Meadow and Glad Valley, and is actually 145 miles by road. This was determined by blogger Stephen Von Worley, who mapped all 13,000-odd McDonald's and calculated the distance using geolocation software.
Besides a few dead areas, if you are east of the Mississippi, and have a craving for a Big Mac, you should be able to get one before lunchtime is over. Things are sparser out West. Blame mountains and deserts -- not any less love -- for fewer golden arches.
No word yet on whether the McGriddle-deprived residents of Meadow and Glad Valley are also America's healthiest citizens.
