Children and the Elderly Almost Getting Clobbered by Speeding Cars

A new video showing a kid narrowly avoiding being crushed by a car as it slams against a building wall got us thinking: While we hate watching people get hit by cars, we love seeing people come within a hair's breath of getting hit by a car.

So we combed the Internet for the best near-misses. Some of these people survived by dumb luck, while others are just dumb and lucky to be alive. Either way, these videos have to be seen to be believed.


Puppy vs. Child vs. Car
Another insane video of a child barely escaping death. This poor kid actually gets nicked by an out-of-control car in Turkey, gets launched down a flight of stairs, lands on his ass, then promptly gets up and walks away like nothing happened. The driver was apparently trying to dodge a puppy. In Turkey, it's puppies first, kids second.


Arrest, Interrupted
It always seems like it's the routine traffic stops where some crazy sh-t goes down. The cop in the yellow jacket should be paste, but he demonstrates some cat-like reflexes when he catches a car screeching towards him in the corner of his eye. He seems to get hit, but only suffers minor injuries. After checking out the damage done to the car, it's safe to say he's lucky to be alive.


Old Man Crotch-Kisses the Hood
Another rally race, but here they don't even bother to offer the illusion that you're safe watching it from the sidelines. Which is fine, since this guy felt like crossing the road in the middle of a race despite the speeding vehicles flying by. He goes crotch-to-hood with a drifting car and lives to tell the tale. Look for his book, "I Was a Stupid Pedestrian: A Story of Love, Loss and Abject Idiocy."


Safety Officer FAIL
What's with rally car races and people almost becoming pavement smears? This idiot calmly walks across the street during a race. Maybe he thought his fluorescent vest would protect him. And apparently, judging from these three videos, rally car drivers either don't know how to brake, or simply don't have brakes. They're in it to win it, even if that means someone has to die.
