Takeru Kobayashi polished off 93 Krystal burgers in eight minutes in Chattanooga over the weekend, besting Joey Chestnut, who put down a measly 81. In the wake of Kobayashi's dominant performance, Krystal rep Brad Wahl had this to say: "Kobayashi's commanding win over Chestnut proved once again why he is the sport's biggest star."

For Chestnut fans, those are devastating words indeed. It was he who looked like eating's premiere horseman of the esophagus only a few months ago when he shocked the world by downing a record 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes at the sport's most publicized event. But even with Chestnut still sitting atop IFOCE rankings, cracks have been showing over the last year.

The Krystal loss comes after Chestnut's defeat earlier this month in the John Ascuaga's Nugget World Rib Eating Championship. And who can forget Chestnut's crushing loss to Kobayashi in the all-important P'Zone Challenge in May. When it came to the doughy calzone-like Pizza Hut creation, Chestnut was clearly overmatched.
