Last month, General Motors announced that Saturn, the different kind of car company that we grew up with, is being phased out. With the numerous problems faced by the auto industry, GM has decided to focus on its core brands and send Saturn to the big scrap heap in the sky with the Gremlin and the DeLorean.

In honor of Saturn, we offer up five other car companies that we would have rather said goodbye to first.
Hummer

It was cool to watch Schwarzenegger drive one of these back in the day, but does anyone still need one of these? Aside from the fact you have to fuel it with pure menace and the souls of the innocent, they don't even look cool anymore. They were cool when they were hardcore military in your own driveway. The H3 looks like it drove out of Michael Bay's wet dreams.

Lexus
Nothing against the cars personally, Lexus makes a pretty set of wheels with some seats strapped to them. The problem is where they've been unfairly culturally positioned. What we mean is, strippers go around calling themselves Lexus now. Once your car has achieved stripper-name stature, it's time to pack things up, or at least re-brand and come back as something new. You're never going to see PT Cruiser dancing to Whitesnake, but you'll see Lexus.

Lamborghini
Does anyone drive these? There's a 90 percent chance these exist to be the podium on which bikini models rest at car shows, and while technically there's nothing wrong with that, for a fraction of the price all those girls could sit in rocking chairs and the rest of us wouldn't have to stare and wonder where the groceries fit inside a Diablo.

Smart
There's something shameful about a car that makes you want to try to flip it over when you look at it, and which takes up exactly the same amount of room whether you park properly or not.

Aston Martin
This one's pure jealousy. Have you ever seen anyone who isn't James Bond in an Aston Martin? And if you did, wouldn't you immediately think "James Bond wannabe"? The Aston Martin can only serve to make others angry; it'd be best if it just shuffled off and left the rest of us alone.
