Exiled from TV since his controversial remarks about the Rutgers women's basketball team, radio personality Don Imus made his return this morning with a 6-9 a.m. simulcast of "Imus in the Morning" on the Fox Business Network. While you might not automatically think "business news" when you think of Don Imus, it doesn't seem like many people think "Fox Business" when they think of business news, either. The network draws an average of 21,000 viewers, so the addition of Imus has got to help them. Hell, they'd draw a bigger crowd with a street mime.
To mark the I-man's return, we thought we would bring you some memorable moments from his repertoire.
What better place to start than the clip that ended it all? Imus was suspended, then fired, for this exchange with producer Bernard McGuirk:
Since then, Imus dropped another racially divisive bomb, this time on cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones. Imus later explained that he was "being sarcastic," pointing out unfair treatment of black people by police. Note how Warner Wolf answers Imus' "What color is he?" with a stab at political correctness.
The lesson here is that when you get fired for calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "Nappy-headed hos," you really need to hang a lantern on all future race-related jokes.
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Imus decided to spread the love a little, taking aim at then-Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. In this clip, he tries to decide which of them more closely resembles a cat. Or something.
This next clip features a favorite TV pastime, dressing down Tucker Carlson.
Most recently, Imus weighed in on the David Letterman sex scandal. Think he'd cut a fellow gabber-under-fire some slack? Think again.
