A compound found in sperm increases the longevity of human cells.
Spermidine also reduces cellular damage in fruit flies
, which researchers have found live 30 percent longer when treated with the compound, and worms, which get a 15 percent burst of longevity from spermidine.
Some scientists have hailed this discovery as "the Holy Grail of age research," and there is speculation that one day a spermidine pill might be able to increase the human lifespan by up to 25 percent.
