The Flaming Lips return from a soundtrack and weird-holiday-movie hiatus with "Embryonic," their most experimental album since 1997's "Zaireeka." Remember how you had to play all four discs of that one at once? Ah, the things people used to do before the Internet. Also in stores this week:
-- Karen O and the Kids are behind the indie-heavy soundtrack for Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are." Cause there's nothing the kids love more than a Yeah Yeah Yeahs side project.
-- "Christmas in the Heart" is the first album of holiday standards by Bob Dylan. Wait, what? Seriously, though, he does a version of "Must Be Santa" that will make you want to hang yourself with tinsel.
-- The Hall & Oates box set "Do What You Want, Be What You Are" -- featuring four discs of blue-eyed hits, remixes, and unreleased gems like "Gino the Manager" -- is definitely going on our Christmas list. Almost makes up for Dylan's "Winter Wonderland."
