From the moment they first slid suavely onto to the scene, with a shimmer of slinky synthesizer and a strong whiff of Gallic savoir faire, the boys from the French electro duo Air -- Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel -- have been synonymous with an unruffled, moog-soundtracked sophistication.

Their debut album "Moon Safari" defined ice-cool electronic wooziness to the point of inspiring dozens of inferior coffee shop chill-out imitators, while later compositions added an extra shine of retro-futuristic elegance to the already ultra-stylish films of Sofia Coppola.

Indeed, their Dunckel and Godin's sonic stylishness is equaled only by their sartorial chic. Whether clad in crisp all-white tailoring, or bookish sweater-vest combos, Godin and Dunckel generally appear in public looking as effortlessly French and insouciant (thank you, thesaurus.com) as the breathy robot vocal line of their first hit "Sexy Boy."
