Testosterone levels spike when men get behind the wheel of a high-end sports car.

Researchers had 39 male university students drive both a Porsche 911 and a 16-year-old Toyota Camry. They drove the cars on a busy street, where they would be seen by women, and in a secluded area. When in a Porsche, the volunteers' testosterone levels shot up, regardless of whether they had an audience. While in the Camry, participant testosterone numbers did not move the dial.

"It's literally the peacock's tail. It's the human version," said the head researcher, explaining why just putting a foot to the pedal of a high-performance automobile gives men a stiff shot of manliness.

The study once again makes it hard not to be envious of the peacock, who can be all he can be without having to shell out at least 50 grand for an otherwise impractical vehicle.
