Required reading from the week in books.

"The Simpsons: An Uncensored, Unauthorized History" has already ruffled some feathers over at "Team Homer." (Apparently Matt Groening does little more than wear loud Hawaiian shirts and sign checks.) While Groening (and James L. Brooks) didn't return the author's phone calls, the book is still a juicy behind-the-scenes tale of a TV legend.

Also in stores this week:
-- "Peter & Max" is the first novel spun-off from Bill Willingham's "fairy tales in the real world" comic "Fables." This time the spotlight falls on the Pied Piper. We always thought he was a little too close to those rats.
-- "The Fortress of Solitude" author Jonathan Lethem returns with "Chronic City," a tale of a former child actor's adventures through modern Manhattan. Alternate title: The "Macaulay Culkin Story."
-- If "David Lynch: Interviews" is even half as entertaining as his Twitter, it'll be the book of the year.
