Required listening from the week in music.
While not as strong as their first album, Flight of the Conchords' "I Told You I Was Freaky" contains gems like "Carol Brown" and the Police tribute "You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute." Now go bug HBO to give them another season. "Bored to Death" is just no substitute. Also in stores this week:
-- "This Is It," the accompanying album for the Michael Jackson concert movie, is basically a best-of collection surrounding the treacly, new Paul Anka-penned song. Still, this is a solid collection of jams. Well, except for "Jam." We never really cared for that song.
-- "One Fast Move or I'm Gone" is the soundtrack to a new Jack Kerouac documentary from Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard and Son Volt's Jay Farrar. Warning: may contain lethal amounts of hipster.
-- Isn't it odd that "The Essential Weird Al" comes out on the same day as Michael Jackson's final release? Downright eerie, in fact. Sadly, we'll have to wait for his inevitable "This Is It" parody. "This Is Cheez-Its," perhaps?
