Florida's rather pedestrian 23-20 win at home against Arkansas Saturday cost the Gators the number one spot in the AP poll. As our friends at With Leather are reporting, it also marked yet another OK -- but nothing approaching Heisman-worthy -- performance for Florida's legend-in-his-own-time QB, Tim Tebow.

Sure, the great one has an excuse, a mind-numbing concussion he suffered just a few weeks ago. But the more one watches Tebow stiffly thrust himself into the opposing defensive line for three yard gains, as he has done his whole career, the more one realizes that it's probably Florida's extraordinary athletic advantage at every position besides quarterback which has fueled their success over the past four seasons.

While that doesn't necessarily negate all of Tebow's "intangibles" (and all the fabulous work he does with lepers), it does suggest they shouldn't be the story of the college football season. But once sportswriters and sportscasters fall in love, they fall hard. And Tim Tebow isn't the only athlete they just can't quit.
