Digital book readers have a difficult time breaking into the market. The technology makes them much more expensive to produce than your $90 iPod, and let's face it -- you can't use them to watch porn. The upside is huge, however, so Barnes and Noble is entering the fray with the Nook ($259), a touchscreen with color. It's running Google's Android operating system and will support books not necessarily tied to the heavy DRM that the Amazon Kindle uses.
Business users may want to rely on Plastic Logic's super light and thin touchscreen Que reader, which offers support for Word Docs and PDFs in additional to books.
Although release dates haven't been confirmed yet, we're betting that all of these readers will end up in the landfill once Apple gets into the business.

I hate those things! Why does everything have to go digital? There is nothing like the smell or the feel of an old book.
