How can we put this delicately? It's not that we aren't into Bob Dylan's newly released holiday album "Christmas in the Heart" (arguably the most surprising seasonal novelty record since Radiohead's "Red Hot Summer Party Jams '06"). And it's not that we don't enjoy the current raspy-voiced, bolo-tie-wearing incarnation of the man once known as Robert Zimmerman. It's just that, when we think of Dylan we like to think of him circa 1965 -- the unwieldy hair, the acoustic guitar, the too-cool-for-school attitude. Why did the times have to change, Bob? Why?
To remember those days, put together our guide to copping the threads of Dylan in his heyday, pictured here looking suitably hip with girlfiend Joan Baez.
BDG Poplin Shrunken Blazer
You wouldn't find this elegantly scruffy troubadour in a sharp-cut suit jacket. A relaxed yet dapper blazer, like this one from Urban Outfitters, is much more up the young Mr. Zimmerman's (Positively 4th) street. ($68 from UrbanOutfitters.com)
Paul Smith London Slim-Fitted Formal Shirt
You'll have to shell out for a patterned shirt if you don't want to look like a Sopranos extra. This slim-cut, subtly psychedelic number from pricey (but always classy) Brit brand Paul Smith says swingin' '60srather than New Jersey hoodlum on a night out. ($305 from PaulSmith.co.uk)
1980s Wayfarer-Style Fashion Sunglasses With Super-Dark Lens Even in his earnest early days, Dylan clearly had ambitions beyond the underground, folk-club integrity of Greenwich Village. Witness the ever-present glam touch of his rock-star Wayfarer shades. ($11 from Amazon.com)
Jonathan Product Create Volume, Thickening Foam Some serious hair product is required to emulate Bob's trademark mop. ($24 from Drugstore.com)
Element Desoto Slim-Straight-Fit Jean ($64 from Zappos.com)

If you're going to spend $305 on a nice dress shirt, I'd go for some Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer glasses for $80-100.
