Unless you're some sort of polar-bear-hating millionaire who happens to live in an igloo, you'd probably be into the Blind Air Conditioner, a simple green technology which lowers your energy bills while still keeping your non-arctic abode cool in the summer. The Blind Air Conditioner is a solar-powered cooling unit that elegantly turns pesky, temperature-raising sunlight into the energy to run a self-contained air-conditioning unit. While the device is still in its design stage -- and naysayers doubt it will be able to generate the type of power needed to cool a room -- we say if we were able to send a man to the moon over 40 years ago, it seems like we should be able to figure out a way to pack in enough BTUs to make this clever innovation functional. We're also rooting for this miracle technology because we figure that if somebody can make this puppy work, that sweet little magic food replicator from "Star Trek" can't be far behind.
The concept won an award for best student design in this year's International Design Excellence Awards, meaning congratulations are due to the designer, and to the guy who brought the bong to the party the night the idea was hatched. We agree, it could totally work, bro.
And let us not forget -- the Blind Air Conditioner also works as a traditional blind, and can be adjusted according to how little (or how much) of your climate-controlled indoor activities you want your neighbors to be able to see.
