Halloween isn't a time of year normally associated with great style, unless you consider zombie Elvises or slutty cheerleaders the height of sartorial sophistication. But the world of the gothic and spooky has made important contributions to the fashionable ideal, from Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray to Johnny Depp's devilishly dapper turns for Tim Burton. Of course, few figures embody sinister stylishness as effectively as Mr. Vincent Price. After making his horror debut in the 1939 Boris Karloff flick "Tower of London," the St. Louis-born thespian went on to star in countless fright flicks, including more than half a dozen Edgar Allen Poe adaptations, performing right up until his death in 1993. Conveying menace and a black sense of humor with each suavely raised eyebrow, the perfectly poised Price was a true gentleman of ghoulishness.
To celebrate October 31, we've put together a guide to getting your cold, clammy hands on a Price-esque ensemble.
Calvin Klein Suit, Grey Glen Plaid Vested
A crisp, gray plaid suit will help you emulate the old-world poise of Mr. Price. At 200 bucks off, the price for this well-cut Calvin Klein outfit is pleasingly retro, too. ($324 from Macy's.com)
CO-OP Barneys New York Paisley Tie in Purple
This nattily psychedelic update of the classic paisley tie offers a fashion-forward take on Price's neckwear. The purple color scheme is a suitably gothic touch. ($55 from Barneys.com)
Mustache Scissor
If you're taking part in this year's Movember, it's important to remember that growing your upper lip fuzz is the easy part. Keeping it trim and dapper is an altogether more high-level dude skill, with a sinisterly slimline effort like Price's representing the ultimate tonsorial challenge. The Art of Shaving makes great, trad-style grooming accessories, and their scissors are a good place to start. ($15 from TheArtOfShaving.com)
24-Karat Gold Pomade
A heavy dollop of high-quality hair product is step one for the vintage dandy look. ($49 from BergdorffGoodman.com)
Kent 100mm Folding Fine Pocket Comb With Clip
Step two is making sure you never have a strand out of place. ($10.65 from Smallflower.com)

Vincent Price's Egg Magic is awesome. It even says right on the box that the feet are included!
