Australian Kurt Fearnley won his fourth straight New York Marathon in the wheelchair division yesterday, after edging out South African Krige Schabort in a photo finish.

We'd like to think the razor-thin margin of victory boiled down to the handsome and aerodynamic new mustache that Fearnely is growing to draw attention to Movember, the month-long fundraising event for men's health issues that Asylum has already thrown our upper lips fully behind.

In addition to his success in New York, Fearnley, who was born without a lower spine or use of his legs, has three Olympic gold medals in distance races. But he will face his most audacious challenge later this month, when he takes on the notorious 60-mile Kokoda Track in Papua, New Guinea.

A wheelchair could never negotiate Kokoda's rugged terrain, so the 28-year-old will attempt to complete the brutal, muddy, mosquito-laden trek by crawling for 12 days, up to 11 hours a day. Many an upright hiker has failed to complete this trail, and some have died trying. However, we're putting our money on Fearnley, and his glorious mustache, to do the inconceivable.
