Tommy Christopher is Asylum's White House correspondent.Last week, I wrote about the striking similarities between ABC's remake of "V" and a Glenn Beck fever dream. Since the show drew huge numbers for the pilot episode, and in an effort to once again represent for sci-fi geeks everywhere, I asked Press Secretary Robert Gibbs for the White House's reaction to the show.
While I wasn't that surprised that he hadn't seen the show (a situation that will be remedied today), it is somewhat curious that the White House is unaware of the controversy surrounding the show.
Here's Gibbs' amused reaction:

Really, Thomas. All that BS is pretty laughable. Your post is outlandishly crazy and paranoid and so full of lies I just almost had to stop at where he was born, which happens to be Honolulu, HI.

David--you and the rest of the haters keep it up--there will be a backlash. Aren't you all just a teeny bit ashamed of yourselves for your nasty, racist comments about him and his lovely wife?
What a bunch of sick, ignorant morans on AOL.

Jim--take a powder or something. Just think of the state you will be in with 7 more years of Obama. You'll surely blow a gut or an artery.

Great article. SCARY...to think we have an administration who doesn't care what the American people think...just look at the health care that passed in the House by a few votes. I mean the majority of the polls said we do not want this health care bill and the gov. just does not care. AND WHAT IS REALLY SCARY IS THAT THIS ADMINISTRATION WILL NOT STOP SPENDING. WE ARE SLOWLY TURNING INTO UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF AMERICA...USSA! WAKE UP!!

Wow thomas, redundant, yet contradictory. I found it very educational. (And yes your name is lowercase because that is the way it appears in your post.)

I'm not into politics, but the visceral reactions that Obama elicits from the populous is both fascinating and frustrating ane even, at times, understandable.
I always suspected that Obama was slick. Being evasive is never an endearing quality. But, them again, he is a politician, after all. Apparently the biggest change we've seen to date is skin color.
As an african-american, I was appalled by the rascist and sexist venom hurled at Hillary Rodam Clinton. Very dirty politics. "Shame on you, Barrack Obama."
And the crazy state of Florida turned the tide against Hillary by going against party rules. A major blow to her campaign.
Believe me, I understand these misgivings, but Obama did inherit a major mess from the two-term former republican President George W. Bush.
And the rascist comments in these postings turn my stomach. People, wake up and get a life!!!

Imagine that - SciFy with underlying agenda???? What about Farenheit 451, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Twilight Zone -- Scify historically contains political commentary. However, if ABC is "called out" by this Administration-would it be considered Censorship?????

BUT SEEING AS HOW THE RECENT RE-VITALIZED SHOW DOES USE "HOPE" AND "CHANGE" AS WELL AS A HEALTHCARE PLOY IN ORDER TO INGRACIATE THEMSELVES WITH THE COMMON PEOPLE, THEM BEING ELITISTS, BENT ON THE DESTRUCTION OF THE COUNTRY AND THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT. I'M SURE THE WHITE HOUSE IS WATCHING THE SHOW TO SEE HOW THEIR AGENDA TURNS OUT.

Right wing agenda on ABC, who are you kidding.
It is funny how history keeps repeating itself; no wonder the public schools neglect teaching it anymore. It might ruin their leftist agenda. ABC is in the tank with the left and everyone knows it.

My only question to this whole situation would be is, If V is a remake of an earlier created show, which would have been made before Obama's presidency, how would the TV show be perceived as a mockery? Is it the assumption that are president would be considered an alien from outerspace? If anyone has truly seen the show, you will see that the visitors were in our U.S. & International countries for years and it was still unknown to U.S. government officials. So if Obama is to be depicted in a reflection of a sci-fi television series than maybe a more scrutinized look should be taken to the entire television series.
