Researchers engineer the erectile tissue of the penis in rabbits.Dr. Anthony Atala of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center's Institute for Regenerative Medicine and his team used a small piece of tissue to grow a full-size, functional rabbit penis. They then attached their creation to another, previously penis-less, male rabbit, who was then able to do what bunnies do best and father baby bunnies with his new appendage.
"Our hope is that patients with congenital abnormalities, penile cancer, traumatic injury and some cases of erectile dysfunction will benefit from this technology in the future," Atala explained.
Erectile dysfunction too, huh? This might actually end up being the cure for email spam.
