Like buying bottles of Cristal but hate the taste of champagne? Into conspicuous consumption but still want to be considered an everyman? You're in luck, because Belgo restaurant in London is now offering what is believed to be the world's most expensive bottle of beer.La Vieille Bon Secourts, the 10-year-old Belgian beer, goes for $1,160 per three-gallon bottle and requires two people to pour it. The brew, which packs a punch at 8 percent alcohol by volume, has been described as a complex blend of citrus, caramel, toffee and licorice flavors. We're guessing it'd also go well with a handful of really pricey pretzels.
"It's a very special drink for very special occasions," said Mark Stroobandt, Belgian Beer Ambassador and Master Beer Sommelier.
Since 1995, the restaurant has sold only three bottles of the beer, but they recently brought out a bottle that's been in storage for over a decade with the intention of pouring it for some lucky (and impossibly wealthy) patrons.
Meanwhile, college students everywhere continue their search for the world's least expensive beer.
