Cops in L.A. have spent months tracking down a vandal who has caused thousands of dollars worth of damage by slapping "Who is John Scott?" stickers on buses, bus shelters and any other flat surfaces he could find. Typically this is the domain of teenagers putting up ads for their garage bands, but this time, it was the work of a senior citizen. 73-year-old John Scott is officially the oldest person ever arrested in L.A. for street vandalism, beating the previous record holder who was 36.
And, like his younger counterparts, Scott was simply trying to gain some notoriety for himself. The stickers he was slapping about town directed people to a personal Web site that sells T-shirts and other merchandise featuring the "Who is John Scott?" logo, as well as a bit of scattered history about the mystery man, including newspaper clippings from the '70s detailing his arrest in Hawaii for trying to sell T-shirts to tourists using the same stickers.
Now that Scott's been charged with felony vandalism it's possible his tagging days are over, but with a career of over 30 years under his belt, he's certainly hit some kind of landmark status.

Thank God the stickers didn't have his face on them. Make sure he gets to take a stack of them to his cell. I would hate to think he would have to waste the rest of his life not doing what he loves.

Pity, he never took time to grow up. Soon he will be covering the walls of the old folks home with his tags as well. Stuff like,"202B has a big butt", or "stops for wheelchairs", or "do not place your depends in the laundry basket".

If that isn't him, why do they have that hideous photo on the article? There is noting in the article that suggests that isn't him.
Whether it is him or not, they sure found one of the ugliest photos ever! I don't even think crackheads would buy crack from him! He's that scarey ugly!

Now that he has notoriety...Who is John Scott? The Next Millionaire. You watch! That mug shot on a shirt would sell BIG with the kids. If plastering stickers all over town is the WORST this man could do...

obviously in an identity crisis & smart taggera never say their name but often make it unlegible refferance to their names for credit. i think he's turning into a spraypaint can.

He's one pitiful ass. Please note: I did not call him an a-hole. Merely an ass. A fool. What a total jerk. Desperate for attention. Get a life, John! If it's not too late.

Here we go again. Who in their right mind is going to think that this man has done permanent damage to a damn bus terminal, wall, etc. It's not like the paint that won't easily come off. Why not just rip the sticker off when you see it, if it really offends you that much, and problem solved. Must admit though the minute that they come up with BS of thousands of dollars worth of damage from his stunt, instant felony. Get a grip and do something about real crime instead of just stroking yourself and trying to get money. Law Enforcement in the country has become a joke.

That's weird.... A guy trying to advertise himself? At least when teens try to get their bands known that's SOMETHING. This guy's just running around exaulting himself. Sounds like somebody has a bit of a confidence problem.

I DESPISE graffiti, and anyone who does it is a lowlife crackhead gangbanging slumdweller. The exception might be a truly beautiful mural, done to actually beautify a space. This guy, however, is DIFFERENT. He did not spray paint "Crux177" or "Snarx" all over creation. He promoted himself! With a website, t-shirts, and REMOVABLE stickers. LOVE it! He's awesome! I'm an older white lady, and quite middle class traditional, but I would SO love a t-shirt! :) BTW--to the person who wrote in about him putting up those nursing home stickers--too funny! Might actually be a market for those! LOL!
