KA-POW! The world record for toppling dominoes has been broken! Some 4,491,863 dominoes bit the dust in Holland this weekend, smashing the standing world record of 4,345,027. Both records were set by a man known as Mr. Domino.
Mr. D was helped by a team of 90 domino experts from 14 European countries who worked for two months on the masterpiece, in the Netherlands town of Leeuwarden. The builders used rulers and tweezers to ensure each stone was in its exact spot.
When toppled, the dominoes fell in a sequence lasting one-and-half-hours during which the dominoes climbed stairs, unveiled paintings and did all manner of other nerdy things.

The elephant didn't all fall over. Doesn't count. That seems like kind of a major oversight.

That's why the judges had to count the ones that didn't fall over.

We saw almost as much footage of the crowd as we did the dominoes. This was extremely lame. Was this sponsored by the Holland Chamber of Commerce?
And as pointed out, the Elephant did not fall. They have to back out EVERY domino in the elephant that did not fall.
PS to all of you idiots who put your garbage Website stuff on here, you are dumber than a domino.

No Dominoes at least have some purpose in life... They are obviously fun to play with and these people have nothing better to do than to post pointless websites about their pathetic lives.

I watched the clip in its entirety (re-watched it to get the
facts). Here are the facts:
1) the full clip ran 1:57 or 117 sec
2) audience shown at 0:00 (beginning) & 0:41 for 3 seconds each
3) judges & celebration starting at 1:40
That means that the dominoes (including the couple in the car and the elephant) are shown for 94 seconds or 80 per cent of the clip. That means that Big D probably watched another clip.
Now about the elephant: Starting at 1:40 for 7 seconds there is the sound of the audience cheering, but the clip shows five people (six if you count the man who is standing with his back to the camera) at a table moving papers. They are NOT cheering. I have concluded that these are the judges. Since I don't know what the rules are for domino toppling (called Domino effect on Wikipedia) I am guessing that these judges have already taken the elephant into account. I have seen footage of many of these events and there is always at least one section of dominoes that doesn't fall.
I do agree with Big D about one thing: Those people whose posts have nothing to do with the article are very dumb.
Thank you
Mark

The dominoes that don't fall are not counted toward the record. In these huge setups that include multitudes of dominoes, it is very rare that they all fall. If you look closely, there are other places where they all didn't fall, however, enough fell to take the record.

I have to ask if there exists anywhere video footage of JUST THE DOMINOES FALLING!! The edit done on this piece completely takes us out of the event. I don't care about the audience or its reaction. I want to see 4 million dominoes falling down, not the mania surrounding the act.

"When toppled, the dominoes fell in a sequence lasting one-and-half-hours in which dominoes climbed stairs, unveil paintings and do all manner of other nerdy things." Worst verb tense I've ever read. Your editor is horrible.

Too many cut-aways to audience. Spoiled the video as we never see the entire event...how do we know it even suceeded. Nice domino skills guys and gals but now ya gotta work on your video concepts. Here's a hint. When you record an event, especially a once in a lifetime event, make sure your focus remains ON THE EVENT NOT ON THE AUDIENCE!!!

Two months to set this up? What a colossal waste of time. Go donate your time to charity if you have nothing better to do.

Would the same suggestion apply to Charlie and Windrider as they suggest to the participants in the domino event?
They must have a lot of time they spend surfing the internet they could apply to helping the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

that is to say, had to count the ones that didn't fall and deduct from the total number of domino's used...could have been 5,000,000 but after the ones didn't fall, was 4,491,863
