We're not quite sure why nobody thought of this before, haven't we all had dreams of floating down a river, eating dinner with our friends in a giant inner tube? Called the iREC in the U.S., the Dutch Aqua-dinner.com Grill & Chill will mean you can enjoy the serene pleasantness of a backyard BBQ, even if the great flood comes -- a useful item in the Netherlands, the name of which basically indicates that it's already under water. The iREC, which stands for interactive Recreational Entertainment Vessel, is a donut-shaped, floating slice of paradise that holds up to 10 adults. In addition to the grill at its center, it has a mattress, a satellite-radio-ready 500-watt sound system and a lovely rain/sun cover.
The iREC is not yet priced in the U.S. (where it's coming out in spring 2010). Despite our facility with foreign languages, when we went online to get the price in Dutch guilders -- 'cause who really cares about the Euro? -- we couldn't figure out how to add the Grill & Chill to our winkelwagen.
