We saw this press release around the Web and couldn't believe it was true. Then we checked with Honda itself, and it is no joke. Honda has developed a traffic simulator to increase bicycle safety. Because there is no better way to practice for real life than through video games. The company is responding to an increased number of youth bicycle accidents. (Clearly someone's trying to take out the hipsters on the fixies.) The simulator lets you experience a bunch of different scenarios, like "biking to the store" and "biking to school." We hope there are plenty of chances to learn how to swerve when some tool on a cell phone opens their car door into your path.
To train the young bikers in your area you'll have to pony up $8,000, which is a much better deal than the cost of bike lanes, driver re-education or traffic-calming corridors.
