In his first public statement since he was found unconscious in his own driveway, Tiger Woods emphatically doubled down on the ridiculous assertion that his wife was trying to "courageously" rescue him from his Cadillac Escalade when she attacked it (and possibly his head) with a Nike golf club of unknown length. This despite reports that Elin Nordegren had recently learned of a tabloid story that romantically linked Woods to a "party promoter."

As our friends at With Leather report, Tiger also refused to meet with the police for the third time yesterday -- probably because lying to the authorities about a possible crime is, well, a crime.

But just as Tiger is within his rights to stonewall the cops, the local D.A.'s office would seem to already have enough evidence to charge Nordegren with domestic assault. Should they do so, or is this just a private matter between a famous husband and a wife scorned?
