Required playing from the week in video games.

Seeing as how "Avatar" looks like a weird $500 million RPG, "Avatar: The Game" could be that rare decent game that's based on a movie. That said, if you can play a game that features half-nude blue aliens that look like the love child of "Captain Planet" and "FernGully" with a straight face, you're made of stronger stuff than we are.

Also in stores this week:
-- Does the guy on the "Rogue Warrior" cover look a lot like The Punisher, or what? Turns out it's Dick Marcinko, leader of an elite SEAL unit trapped behind enemy lines in this multiplayer shoot-'em-up. Sorry, but "Dick Marcinko" sounds like the name of an insurance claims investigator from Topeka.
-- "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" could quite possibly mark the death of rhythm games as we know it. The Chipettes rendition of "Single Ladies" is enough to drive a man insane.
-- Julienne those potatoes! Brown that lamb shank! It's a race to the finish in "Food Network: Cook or Be Cooked," a cooking game for Wii with a noteworthy lack of Giada De Laurentiis appearances.
