In response to us sharing our first screen names from the early Internet days of dancing hamsters, AOL chatrooms and Altavista -- anyone remember Altavista? -- you, kind readers, offered a few of your own dalliances on the World Wide Web of yesteryear.

Commenter arcadestooge said, "Mine was 'benevolentworlddictatorforlife' [...] I really hadn't caught on to the fact that a shorter screen name is more likely to get a response ..."

Liz recalled, "I was 'Liz2' on the discussion groups where I posted. No matter which ones I went to, there was always a Liz who had signed up before me."

Andrew brought back fond memories of a TV gem from earlier this decade: "GrandeAnde87. Why? Because of an episode of Andy Richter Controls the Universe. That's right."

But, to quote current Internet parlance, it's obliquedevon "for the win": "The worst goes to a friend who was really into Vertical Horizon and marked himself VHFan. He got a lot of messages from Van Halen fans."

What was their song again? Something about Superman? Or was it that "Breakfast at Tiffany's" song? (We consider ourselves lucky to have lost that nugget from alt rock's dark years.)
