First it was elephants that could paint. Then dogs. Now the world has fallen in love with an orangutan "photographer" named Nonja.Nonja is an orangutan at the Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, and at last count she had over 25,000 fans on Facebook, thanks to the pictures she takes of her fellow primates.
Nonja has a Samsung ST 1000 digital camera that dispenses a raisin every time a photo is taken and has a direct WiFi link to Facebook, where her pictures are uploaded. The camera is also equipped with a protective casing in case Nonja gets pissed and decides to crush it with her super-strong orangutan hands.
Sounds like an opportunity to get some amazing up close and personal shots of orangutans without having to risk getting your face ripped off by an angry primate, right?
Let's take a look at the "art" that has got the world's panties in an twist.
Not bad. The head is missing, but still ...

Hmmm ... either this camera doesn't have auto-white balance, or Nonja just watched "Punch-Drunk Love."

This could be an interesting study of an orangutan hand. More likely she's just trying to catch the raisin when it pops out of the camera.

All right, clearly this monkey just wants a freakin' raisin.

Orangutans are critically endangered in the wild because of rapid deforestation and the expansion of palm oil plantations.
If nothing is done to protect these majestic creatures, they could be extinct in just a few years.
