Coffee doesn't decrease drunkenness, it just makes you less aware that you're bombed. According to researchers at Temple University, who tested their hypothesis on lab rats, when a person consumes caffeine while inebriated, it makes them feel like they can handle complicated or dangerous situations. In reality, they are no more able cope with these circumstances than those who just imbibed alcohol.
Not only is this something to think about if you like to hit the diner after a long night of bar-hopping, many experts worry that drinks which actively combine alcohol and caffeine lead people to make "poor decisions with disastrous outcomes."
Although one man's poor decisions and disastrous outcomes is another man's love life.
