Parenting is tough (so we've heard) and it doesn't help when strangers get involved with unsolicited advice -- or physical abuse. Take a recent happening at Starbucks in Brooklyn Heights: A man was waiting for a steamy drink while his child fidgeted and fussed in a stroller. Another man complained to the dad. When the dad didn't leave to tend to the child and continued to wait for his drink, the complainer slapped the dad. Undeserved violence? Onlookers say it was, claiming they've seen far worse behavior from children in public.
When the police arrived, the manager, an employee and dad were taken outside for questioning. (The vigilante parenting expert was long gone by then.) Supposedly video surveillance tapes in the shop will be consulted and justice may be served.
Now because we're a group of real journalists, we have to look at every story from all angles. That said, here's some devil's advocate: As childless adults, we hate when kids are loud/messy/stinky/present in our day-to-day activities. Especially when we're fixing for some caffeine. We're not gonna lie, there's a good chance we would have slapped him too -- or at least wanted to. So we pose it to you, readers:

Slapping someone for their child's poor behavior is just crazy! He should have asked the father to quiet his kid down, and if the father didn't, then he should have left and gone to another starbucks that's probably across the street.
