What differentiates BASE jumping from sky diving is that the former is done from fixed objects, such as buildings or cliffs. (BASE stands for the types of objects from which participants jump -- buildings, antennas, spans and Earth.) So the fall will still kill you, but you have much less time to get your parachute in order.

For this reason, BASE jumpers must pay close attention to the cross winds. In the video below, Valery Rozvov failed to do so, despite having over a thousand such leaps under his belt. Hmm ... an experienced jumper making a beginner's mistake by failing to make simple preparations? While sporting a Red Bull parachute? A little dubious, if you ask us.

Luckily, Rozvov survives in this almost certainly viral ad. The mantra that Red Bull gives you wings does not.
