What's crazier than one drunk operating a horse? How about two drunks operating a horse? In the span of a week, police in Pennsylvania arrested an Amish man for operating a horse and buggy while intoxicated and police in Tennessee arrested a woman after she cut out the middleman and just operated a horse itself drunk.
Police received several reports from a local Christmas parade of a woman on a white horse slumped in her saddle, but officers were unable to locate the woman or the horse in the parade.
Police eventually found 46-year-old Patti Lynn Moore, still slumped forward on her horse outside of a motel. The responding officer described her as "extremely intoxicated."
Unlike the intoxicated Amish man, Moore only received a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication. I guess that because technically, the horse was the designated driver.

This story is supposed to be cute or entertaining, but I view it otherwise. I am glad it was printed because it offers the opportunity for current horse related issues to be exchanged. I am writing a book about people and horses. Its called "Cowboys. An Experiment Gone Wrong." Essentially, my aim is to educate the droves of horseman and other idiotic animal handlers, with one simple fact. The more nature you remove from a horse, the less balanced it becomes.

These are DEFINITELY not unusual situations. Anyone who has ever been on an organized trail ride is well aware of these alcoholic jerks. For those who enjoy the outdoors, and some of who drink moderately, these "people" are the same as going out to celebrate some occasion and have to co-exist with the local barflies. It seems there is one in every group to give the whole bunch a black eye...

I grew up in a small country town. Back in the late Sixty's there were some local farm boys who would ride their horse's into town- get drunk and ride them home. All back roads(some dirt). Most times they rode in the fields, not much traffic out there. What was funny was that if they fell off their horse, the horse would stop and wait till they climbed back on (most times they needed help getting back up from their fellow drunks). Never once did the horses leave them.

I know a woman who was married to a lawyer - passed out drunk on horseback and received a small cut on her temple. She spent three days in ICU, later claimed brain damage and received full disability from SS in ONE MONTH. She has recently managed to supervise the building of a new house! I have stopped eating out with her as she "acts out" to try to prove to everyone that she has brain damage. Her act is totally different from a real brain damaged individual. Unbelievable.

Some people have disabilities that can't be seen. You said her husband was a lawyer, if, this about her why say his ocupation? Ah! I bet you think she quicker ssi because of his job. You said "her act" was totally different" from a REAL brain damaged individual? There are so many parts of the brain, that effect different areas. So... you know so much,Do you want her off ssi, or you on it?

They should legalize riding a horse drunk. At the point of intoxication, the horse is smarter than the rider anyway. At least the drunk has a way to get home and I don't get a phone call at 2am. Lots of plus sides here: It is enviormentally friendly, promotes animals, and allows for recycling in its purest form. (puking or relieving directly back into nature).

By bukeneng21 My guess is that you are a freakin liar, who could not afford to take a real woman out for a hamburger. Besides what type of woman would respond to your line of BS? She would have to be a looser and a sl--
Now, back to the races. In the great British tradition, we always have more than one before chasing the foxes. It is rather a queer tradition, but the woman enjoy it.

SCREW all you "do-gooder" idiots!! "Lets all live in a safe world" You idiots, don't want other people drinking alcohol (unless it is wine). No smoking. No illegal parking. No fat or skinny people. No disagreeing with "me". No automobiles (unless it is your Navigator/Cascade). No green-house gases. No just about everything else you, don't "approve" of!!
Just like the Amish kid in Pa. that was charged with DUI. So he stopped on the roadway. What in the hell do think a brake pedal and a steering wheel is in a vehicle is for? Decoration?
If you do-gooders, want to be decent people, STOP and help!!! So the Pa. cop had the kid "arrested" and faces a DUI charge. Boy! that really helped!!
Tell you all what. Since alcohol seems to be a problem, to you people and cops, lets go back to the day's of Prohibition!! And lets make consuming alcohol a CAPITAL OFFENSE, the we can EXECUTE these violaters of LAWS!! JAY WALK? EXECUTE!! Have a oppossing view-point from YOU, EXECUTE!!
If you don't want to execute. Then how about taking away a person's ability to earn a living? Break ANY law, and you cannot have money, not even a penny!! Put you on the street, no money, no food, and homeless. THEN, make a law against homelessness!!!! Screw ALL you "decent people"!!!!!!!!
HAVE A NICE DAY! SIGNED: DANIEL L. BUSHEY
Forget about what other people are doing, and worry about yourself.

Where does it say it was an Amish KID? And if you knew anything about it,you'd know how dangerous those buggy's are when operated by a SOBER man. Buggies going 15 mph on a highway where cars do 60 mph is dangerous not only for the Buggies but the cars as well. They frequently cause accidents and when involved usually are devastating for the buggy driver and horse as well.
PA roads(where lots of buggy's run)are narrow and lots of times have no shoulder. Buggies usually have children in them too. So shut yer trap, Dumb ass.

I doubt the "kid" was a arrested by police. They MAY have notified Amish elders tho.The Amish usually handle things like this without the local law getting into it. Not fair, but that's how it is.Sounds like you don't know Jack, and are just spouting off.

I agree 100%. Draconian DUI laws because most people don't have a drinking problem. What about the old woman that just run over the kid at the bus stop in GA. She was speeding. Why don't speeders automatically lose their license for at least six months on the first offense? Because all you hypocrites who make these DUI laws are chronic speeders, that's why. Yep, I got a DUI four years ago. It cost me my drivers license, community service, DUI school, $2500 in fees and fines, and finally my job after being convicted. I never had an accident in my life, never hurt anyone in my life, donated to a lot of good charities and always tried to help a neighbor out in need. From my lawyer, to the cop that arrested me, to the jailer, to the judge, I was talked to as if I was a serial killer. It showed my how unjust the justice system really is. If you kill someone and blow a .07 you may get off with nothing, doesn't matter if you were eating a hamburger and combing your hair while driving. If you kill someone and blow a .09 you're looking at fifteen years in prison, even worse than intentionally killing someone in many cases. But to all you hypocritical speeders out there who despise me, I've learned my lesson. Never drank after that DUI and will never drink again. I've whipped my personal demon. I'm sure that very few of you can say the same thing.

The picture shown with the man and the dog on the horse is a T Shirt I bought in Death Valley last month. Only the shirt "says" Designated Driver. Pretty cute but the results can be deadly.
