By now you've undoubtedly heard the insane news that Billboard has named Nickelback its band of the decade. This is sort of like calling Dick Cheney the cuddliest politician of the 2000s.While Nickelback actually placed seventh on Billboard's list, behind hugely successful solo artists such as Eminem and Beyoncé, the bland Canadian rockers were the highest-ranking group, according to the magazine. Somewhere, Bono is rolling over in his grave, or at least launching into yet another unsolicited diatribe about debt relief.
What do you think about this ridiculous development? If not Nickelback, what was the worst band of the 2000s and why? (Cough ... Creed ... Cough)

Worst Band of the Decade? I'm gonna go by ones that released albums. GUNS N ROSES. All this hype surrounding Chinese Democracy and we get 1, MAYBE 2 good songs off of the damn thing.

Creed is a great nomination, but I've always found the Dave Matthews Band to be the single most overrated band since U2.

Worst radio songs. But blink is lyrical genius. You obviously just rock out to all the small things. They'll go down as music history.
Love ittttt.

Limp Bizkit is the worst band of this or any decade.

All things considered, it should be a band that:
- Went out of their way to sound bad
- Were part of a really annoying trend that came from this decade
- Got an incredibly easy ride from the media
In that case, it's pretty much got to be a "hipster indie" band of some kind. There's plenty to choose from, but I'm gonna go with Babyshambles. Just horrible, horrible, horrible.
At least everyone knows that Creed etc. are crap, and no one tries to sound "intellectual" by saying they like them.

Out of their way to sound bad? (self-evident)
Part of a really annoying trend? (neo-hair-band rock)
Easy ride from the media? (network TV appearances at will)
Got it.
Bon Jovi.

Nickelback is a very respectable band (usually)
Here is a few facts about them that you may not know
1. Chad & Mike's dad left them when they were just little kids and didn't even bother to say good bye.
2. Chad taught himself how to play the guitar. (and may i say he is VERY talented, for example look up the guitar chords for Far Away, the whole six dots (up & down) on their thats how fast their going.
3. Chad writes ALL the songs and refuses (usually) to take credit for them.
Now here is a couple facts about the songs
1. Too Bad was written about Chad's dad leaving him
2. How you Remind me was written about how his girlfriend broke up with him
3. Never Again was written about a true story
4. Far Away was written by Chad & Ryan for/about their wives
5. If Everyone Cared was written with his wife in mind
6. Just to get High was written about a friend of his who died on died on (the friends) 18th birthday in jail from drugs
7. Never Gonna Be Alone was written for his wife
8. Photograph is his life story
9. Savin' Me was written about how he felt when he had just gotten married and really wanted/needed his dad to be there
Now yes, I know he's hard some bad moments, but haven't all celebrities. I mean so what he's let the fame get to his head, but hey hasn't Miley Cyrus, and all those other stars, and I guarantee that even Taylor Swift won't be able to keep her head on straight ALL the time. So please cut the guy some slack.
(P.S. you may want to be carefull about what you guys say about him or their band, Chad has an AWFUL temper. So just a warning here BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY! just an example, he did beat the crap out of a guy a bar because the guy told him right in his face that he thought they suck. SO BE CAREFULL and PLEASE take some of what I just said into mind. Once you think about their not all that bad.)

While I feel for anyone subjected to any kind of mistreatment, especially as a child, I have no idea what any of those points have to do with "qualifying" Nickleback as recipients of the best of anything, ever.
If the criteria is based on sappy backstory then it would be impossible to narrow it down to any single band or artist. Everyone faces adversity at some point in life, everyone is inspired by at least one thing in their lifetime. Based on your comments, it would appear that if all of us wrote a song & taught ourselves to play guitar.....We would ALL be the best musicians of the decade.....
Simply ridiculous!
P.S. I will take my chances & live in fear until Chad & his gnarly temper come to get me.

Nickelback is not bad at all.
their new single "if today was your last day" has proven that they are indeed AWESOME.
Also, I think people should just stop following haters blindly.
Stand up for yourself for once.

"Careful - Chad has an AWFUL temper..."
Hahahahaha -- that's the funniest thing I've heard in quite a few days. Who cares if he has a temper? Nickleback sucks and that's me standing up and saying so. I think almost all of the "music" made today is basically the same. Ever since someone decided that computers could be used to record and every guitar slouch in the world turned his messy room into a studio, the music began sounding the same ol' same ol' cliche-ish sound that's dead. I've moved on to other pursuits than music but if there was something I didn't want to hear above most other things, it'd be this Nickleback rubbish. Ugh got a little taste of stomach content in my mouth just now...

Actually no they don't, because Joey (he does/did their records and is also metioned in their song Photograph) he won't do that, and honestly just to make a point of that one of their songs (on their first or 2nd album) you can hear the drummer putting down the drumsticks.

Nickelback sucks dead donkey c--k. Absolutely the worst thing on the radio for the last 5 years, and that includes James Blunt, the douche who sang "You had a bad day," Fall Out Boy, and the Jonas Brothers.

I absolutely agree with Yavanna & vorvor. I truly believe Nickelback is a great band. They're not ordinary, I see something special in them. I think the article is offensive for Nickelback fans
