The job of a team mascot is a thankless one -- you're in a hot, uncomfortable suit; you have to get the crowd pumped up; and you need some measure of skill as well, to keep people entertained. Still, mascots should beware of biting off more than they can chew. For instance, anyone dressed like a giant cat should know better than to run at an exercise ball and try to use it as a platform to slam dunk a basketball.
As the cat writhes and grabs for his lower back, two referees pace impatiently and a handful of others on the sidelines don't even make the pretense of moving to see if he's OK. Now that's sportsmanship.
Like a trooper, the cat manages to get to his feet and carry his ball away, stuffed head held high. Hopefully his next trick will get a practice run first, just for safety reasons.

I can tell you why, I know where this was taken, it is actually where I went to school, and if you knew who was in that costume you wouldn't have tried to help him either... i know that's harsh, but he brought it upon himself

that was hilarious but the refs should be fired, not one of them even thought about checking on the person in the suit who was in obvious pain.

Referees have been sued and are now instructed NOT to attend to injured players (and presumably, mascots and cheerleaders). Where are the team doctors and trainers, the people who are experts in first-aid?

I feel sorry for the mascot but it's not the referee's job to provide aid. There should have been a trainer or EMT on site to handle injuries. Referees have been sued for trying to help an injured person. That being said, the refs should have called for help and let medical people do what they have been trained to do.

I don't care whose job is it Johnny.. any self respecting human being would have come to this cat's aid immediately. This could not have happened in Texas. Noone would stand around and not help the poor guy.

Referees are not health professional. Had they gotten involved in a non-game related issue, the only thing that could happen to them is a letter from a lawyer. Where was the game management.
Let me get this straight, fire a ref for not coming to the aid of a moron. I'll see if that is in the officiating manual

You didn't come to his aid. whats wrong with YOU? and the refs should be sued? yea. Sue someone for something they didn't do that is not part of their job. Sue.... that's a bad mentality that a lot of ghettos and ignorant people have.

It's obvious the guy or gal hurt themselves, what's that matter with all the a-holes who just stood around gawking. NOT FUNNY

Spud, Maybe the refs can't attend to the medical needs of the team etc. but they could call the trainer, who was probably with the team in the locker room during the half time. The other ref could at least offer some basic compassion/hand on the shoulder while waiting for help. Even animals attend to their kin when they are in trouble. These are adults who are not acting the role. What is happening to our family of man anyway?
