The job of a team mascot is a thankless one -- you're in a hot, uncomfortable suit; you have to get the crowd pumped up; and you need some measure of skill as well, to keep people entertained. Still, mascots should beware of biting off more than they can chew. For instance, anyone dressed like a giant cat should know better than to run at an exercise ball and try to use it as a platform to slam dunk a basketball.
As the cat writhes and grabs for his lower back, two referees pace impatiently and a handful of others on the sidelines don't even make the pretense of moving to see if he's OK. Now that's sportsmanship.
Like a trooper, the cat manages to get to his feet and carry his ball away, stuffed head held high. Hopefully his next trick will get a practice run first, just for safety reasons.

Maybe nobody helped because maybe everyone knew the mascot was a fool for wanting to attempt such a stupid trick and maybe he was even warned and maybe he was as obstinate as he is stupid!

The really amazing part of the video is at the end when some bystander obviously rolled the ball back towards the mascot as if suggesting he might want to try the stunt again....!

I hate that no one came to his aid... but I think I kinda understand why they didn't. A mascot gets the crowd pumping and provides the laughter that can sometimes be missing in a game. The crowd including the ref's and people on the sideline probaly thought he meant to fall as part of the routine. They didn't honestly think he was hurt. Still, someone coulda checked but I don't think it was just mean-spiritedness that prevented any help.

I agree with a lot of people here. It's not the ref's fault. I fell one time when I was a child, and my dad was absolutely pissed at the staff and teachers at school that kept telling me to try to get up and stand up. He is a trained EMT, he said it could of been fatal if they moved me, or If I have moved one little wrong way..

What idiot jumps on a big ball to make a basket. That pussy was dumb!! I would have done a nonpainful routine and one with some sense.

It's hard to come to someone's aid that does something so completely moronic! Such a simply law a physics that a four year old comes to learn by the virtue of common sense. Forward motion, compressed on a cylindrical object with close to zero friction to keep it from moving. HELLO!!! Idiot.

LOL, I don't think the refs were sure he was hurt or not. This is what Mascots normally do ... mis-perform stunts, and fall, and 'mime' being in pain. ROFL, I'm not even convinced he wasn't faking it ... thou that fall looked nasty. They may have had a lot of padding behind them. I go to Denver Nuggets games, they always have 'deeds' and 'mis-deeds' like this by the mascots, rofl.
If it was a fall, I hope they are ok.
