Not to get all preach-y on you, but New York City residents waste 270,000 pounds of food every day. To help you picture what that looks like (and to remind you that thousands of other people are left hungry), City Harvest created this commercial, which shows a subway train pulling into a station. As it comes into view we see it's jam packed with yummy green apples that only get wasted once the doors open and the fruit comes spewing out. The organization is constantly accepting food donations and volunteers, and while we certainly encourage you to help out, that's not the point of this post. What is? To illustrate the coolness of technology! Bbefore you get your panties in a bunch, realize no fruit was actually harmed in the making of this video.
Follow the jump to watch a behind-the-scenes making of the commercial. Even Granny Smith would be proud.
