Earlier this week, we reported the sad, infuriating story of the theft of Danny "Sparkie" Johnson's new lawn mower, which he had scrimped and saved for by mowing lawns. We got in touch with Gina Orlandez, the manager of the halfway house that helps look after the 62-year-old Sparkie, who suffers from cerebal palsy. She tells us that an LA Daily News reader has come to Sparkie's rescue, buying him a brand-new Craftsman lawnmower.
She notes that Sparkie was "very happy" when presented with Charlie Goldstein's gift. The event was covered by local TV stations. See the happy conclusion to Sparkie's story in all of its video goodness after the jump.
