It's always drama with that Brett Favre fellow. As our friends at With Leather report, the legendary QB is claiming Vikings coach Brad Childress attempted to bench him during last night's 26-7 loss to the woeful Carolina Panthers. If true (and Childress doesn't seem to be denying it), this would be odd on at least four levels: First, as you've probably heard, Favre is having a really good year. Second, the Vikings were actually winning at the point Childress got in Favre's face and suggested he grab pine. Third, Vikings backup QB Tarvaris Jackson has an established track record of mediocrity. And, finally, Favre successfully argued his way out of the benching. Nobody puts Fav-re in the corner!
Isn't Favre, who was clearly perturbed by Childress's actions, a little old to be being playing these kind of motivational games with? The Saints are starting to look shaky, so the Vikings could have established themselves as the favorites in the NFC. Instead, they now risk losing their playoff bye week and dome-field advantage. Will the perpetual Favre-drama lead to another Vikings playoff letdown?
| Nah -- Favre is a gunslinger, and gunslingers have short memories. | |
|---|---|
| Yup -- the Vikings' season will be over in three weeks, and Favre will be tearfully contemplating retirement. (Again.) |

Oh Asylum. It's bad enough that the Bears lost yesterday (again), and now you're posting something that is disturbingly pro-Farve by implication. Boooo!

the Vikings are already in the playoffs. They really didnt need to win this game. With as many people injured as we have, it was not neccessary to play to our potential. with 2 unimportant games to go, we have plenty of time to get healthy and also experiment with trying some new plays. although i did agree with coach Childress about benching Favre, he was getting crushed out there cause the O line could not pass block or make any run gaps.

Typical Farve burnout in the late season. I hope he retires and never comes back to pro ball. Minnesota was all high on him and the prognosticators predicted this would happen. He fizzled towards the end of the season. He should go back to Louisiana and wrestle gators if wants the physical contact. He will make the Hall of Fame eventually and he should not tarnish it by being addicted to football.

Surprised? What idiot doesnt realize by now that Childress is obsessed with Tarvarian Jackson and desperately wants to play him. NO MATTER HOW GOOD FARVE PLAYS. How is T-Jerk even the 2nd string QB? It should be Rosenfels. At least Sage has experienced success in the league , Jackson flat out sucks.

Favre has been an insane competitor since So Miss. He had a bad wreck then (1989?) & had a few feet of intestine taken out & a few weeks later went out & upset #5 Fla. St in the season opener. I hate all the prima dona talk & such. What it most reminds me of is a scene from the original "The Longest Yard." The blacks were boycotting playing (being under the thumb of the man or whatever - black protest) & one guy walked thru the "picket" line. When he was called a sellout or whatever, he said, "Man, I just wanna play football." THAT reminds me more of Favre than all the psychobabble I keep reading.
