The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is really feeling that annoying "12 Days of Christmas" jingle this year. But instead of asking for maids a-milking and lords a-leaping, the agency is hoping that a promotional event called "The 12 Days of Fugitives" will inspire Sunshine State civilians to deliver escaped convicts. The department rolled out the new campaign two weeks ago, and each weekday has been profiling a different felon, many of whom have been on the lam for more than 20 years.
According to an FDLE spokesperson, the campaign is "designed to reach the public during the holiday season, when investigators believe the wanted men are most likely to contact friends, family and loved ones."
With the potential reward for information leading to the capture of one of these dudes set at $2,500, now would be a good time for criminal harborers to put down the yule log and pick up the phone.
If the campaign proves unsuccessful, we can only assume that Florida officials will attempt to round up the bad guys in the spring with a fugitive Easter egg hunt.
