New York Times tech editor David Gallagher linked to this chart on his Twitter page, reminding us that reading through research results doesn't always have to suck the life out of you.

Last.fm, a free Internet radio program, compared the listening habits of New Yorkers to the rest of the world. Turns out, we're way cooler than everyone else on the planet.

Need proof? We stopped listening to Britney Spears quickly after her album released, while the rest of world oddly became "Circus"-obsessed. We love Animal Collective (more than Catholic people love the Pope, it seems) and we may be able to take credit for the success of Grizzly Bear. While everyone else had a pants boner for Lady Gaga and Lilly Allen, we appropriately listened to Phoenix and Dirty Projectors.

Good job, New Yorkers. You officially have the best ear for music. You should all be given your own record company. The rest of the world? Well, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Green Day? Really??
