Somebody named Raul really wants somebody named Megan to know that he still loves her.We know this because Raul expressed his most heartfelt feelings for Megan, whom he broke up with an indeterminate amount of time ago, in a 1000-plus-word half-page love letter/advertisement he took out in the San Antonio-Express News Tuesday.
As the story of the unusual advertisement started to gain national attention, the San Antonio-Express News attempted to get Raul to elaborate on the rather cryptic note. But Raul has refused, preferring that his original letter, which contains no last names or contact information, speak for itself.
The $1,800 ad was printed in a calligraphy that Raul helped design, and featured such flowery prose as "I understand your life is different but my soul is still constantly trying to touch yours."
While Raul acknowledges in the beginning of the note that an easier way to reach out to Megan would have been to drop it in the mail, he writes, "If I really truly love you, then it's important that I look for the highest mountain to climb and shout it from the top of my lungs."
One potential Megan has come forward and contacted the Express-News. However, she lives out of state, making it doubtful she is the one to whom Raul is referring. The paper also told Asylum that another man phoned soon after the love letter ran "to inquire about running similar ad."
So even if Raul and Megan never reconnect, lovelorn men who want to make a grand, romantic gesture might just be the new revenue stream that the floundering newspaper industry has been waiting for.

He obviously has disposable income and I give him a lot of credit. Most people would bottle it inside or keep the words hidden in a notebook forever. Good for him.

WAY-TO-GO RAUL!
Since Raul nor Megan felt it necessary to ask any one what they thought of their relationship to begin with, what's the relevance in asking the world what they now think of Raul's election to publize a heartfelt letter?
Raul obviously has the means, do we really have a right to dictate how he spend it?
People are so fixated on the negative! I suspect if Raul gave the money to needy children in Africa, there would be plenty to post judgment that he failed to give it to local children. If he gave it to the locals, those same pesimistic foes would be there to advocate for Africa. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Gutsy move dude. Letter would have been just as effective. At last count; about 3.5 billion women on the planet. If it's over, move on.

This reminds me of an old Drew Barrymoore movie called,"Never Been Kissed". Which was basically a "fairy tale". I'm a hopeless romantic. I think his gesture was sweet, but this is not a movie. This is the real world. It sounds like (even though he claims he wanted no recognition from it by NOT including last names), he wanted to create some hopeless romantic gesture to get exactly that - notoriety. Hmmmm....if he plays his cards right, there could be books, talk shows, lifetime movie, etc... Now he may be a rich dude that donates to charity all of the time and this is legit, but in a country where unemployment is at an all time high, and the holidays that just passed with so many kids that went hungry and had no gift from Santa this year, a few cents for a stamp, fill a little belly or make a santa wish come true could have made more sense and would have been a grander gesture for his $1800.

I agree with most of your points, kcb1765. Its a catch 22. I am not declaring what I say is right and you are wrong. I am not like that. My only intention is to add a tid bit to keep an open mind. You are right, he probably would be darned if he did and darned if he didn't. But if you know you already are going to be critisized for your decision, how about doing a little good for someone that you may not know along the way. That way when his decision does blow up and the hypocritical fools that immediately bestow judgement and try to make a positive situation into a negative, he would then have the opportunity to have the last laugh (maybe silently) by knowing he did the right thing. Then he could be commended for not mimicking the movie "Never Been Kissed", but mimicking the movie "Pay it Forward".
