It's not often you hear of someone stepping up and being a hero, let alone being awesome while doing it, but a cyclist in Wenzhou, China, apparently decided it was his time to shine.

A woman named Chen was walking outside a hotel when two would-be thieves breezed by on a scooter and snatched her purse. She screamed that she had been robbed as the two made their getaway.

Security camera footage from the front of the hotel shows a man on a bicycle calmly stopping in the middle of the street and raining two-wheeled hell down upon the criminals as he hurls his bike like an eco-friendly gladiator causing them to crash.

Footage from the next angle shows a second pedestrian arrive in time to deck one of the thieves, and the cyclist is left to pick up the purse and return it to its owner. Presumably when he returned it he was standing on a cliff with the wind in his hair and the maiden clutching at his thigh as she stares up at his rippling pecs and cheese grater abs.
